Meet Doug – Founder of DBS Sports
Doug is the heart behind DBS Sports—a former collegiate and minor league baseball player turned mentor, coach, and showcase organizer with a mission to help overlooked talent get seen.
Doug began his baseball journey at Grand Rapids Community College, where he redshirted his first year and went on to help the team win two NJCAA National Championships in 1996 and 1997. During his time there, he earned All-MCCAA honors, showcasing his skills and determination. He later transferred to the University of Pittsburgh, where he was named All-Big East while playing for the Panthers.
After college, Doug played professionally in the independent minor leagues for several seasons before transitioning to coaching. His experience includes serving as a catching coach in the Collegiate Summer League and as head coach at Franklin Regional High School in Pennsylvania.
While coaching, Doug noticed a recurring problem—many talented high school players lacked access to college exposure simply because they didn’t play for elite private schools or travel teams. That realization sparked the birth of DBS Sports. His goal? To create meaningful showcase events that bring college coaches directly to deserving players—especially those in under-recruited areas.
Through DBS Sports, Doug has helped over 100 players earn college opportunities in the past year alone. His events offer more than just exposure—they provide real metrics, live game evaluations, and ongoing support to help players find the right fit at the next level.
Doug’s passion is personal—baseball changed his life, and he’s committed to paying it forward by opening doors for the next generation of student-athletes.
